Medical travel preparation guide

Commit to travel only after the medical institution has confirmed responsibility, required records and appointments in writing. This guide is general orientation, not travel or treatment arrangement.

1. Contact the institution directly

Use the official website to identify the relevant department and any international patient office. Ask whether your records can be assessed, which languages are accepted and how to submit them securely. An initial reply does not replace medical assessment or written admission confirmation.

2. Clarify documents and practical conditions

Prepare your examination history, medication and allergy information according to the institution’s instructions. Ask about translations, accompanying family, expected stay and further examinations. Discuss a written cost estimate and insurance directly with the institution and insurer. This portal is not a party to those arrangements.

3. Prepare travel and your return

Verify passport, visa and entry requirements with the responsible German diplomatic mission. Confirm accommodation, accessibility and transport with each provider. Ask your treating team about discharge records, medication, fitness to travel and follow-up at home. Requirements depend on your individual circumstances.
