Checklist before medical travel

Use this list for your own preparation. It does not replace specific instructions from hospitals, authorities, airlines or insurers.

Travel documents and confirmations

Check your passport, required entry documents, written appointment or admission confirmation, institution address and responsible contact. Prepare insurance evidence and written cost information where needed. Check requirements separately for each companion.

Medical records

Prepare current reports, diagnostic results, any requested images, medication and allergy details following the hospital’s instructions. Ask about formats and translations. Discuss taking medicines with professionals and check applicable travel rules. Do not upload any of these records to this portal.

Stay and return

Record accommodation, transport, mobility needs and a personal emergency contact. Clarify accompaniment, discharge documents, follow-up appointments and fitness to travel with the treating team. For medical emergencies in Germany call 112; this website is not an emergency service.
